Student United

What Is Student United?

You can change your community and the world through Student United. If you’re a high school or college student, we’ll help you organize your peers to tackle pressing social problems in your own backyard.

Student United Way represents the next generation of community leaders. We focus on education, financial stability, and health – the building blocks for a good quality life. Student United is led by students for students, we create and increase volunteer opportunities to address community needs and develop a lifetime commitment to service.

Formerly known as Youth Volunteer Corps, this student service organization has merged with the United Way of the Lakeshore and carries the name Student United. Our Student Leadership Team plans and implements three large-scale service opportunities during the school year, and assists with another project in the summer in cooperation with the DTE Summer Youth Employment Program.

Student United is for Every Student.

Student United works with several service-based organizations around Muskegon County to work collaboratively on initiatives together. Students can be a part of their own National Honor Societies, Youth Groups, Interact Clubs, Troops, or Student Councils and can still participate. A student does not have to belong to any prior service club to be a part of Student United. Any student age 13 and above can be a part of Student United activities as long as they would like to volunteer and give back to their community.

Already a member of a service club?

That's great! At Student United, we love to work together with other clubs on cross-county-initiatives. What does that mean? We would love for you to join us and work with other leaders in different school districts to make a larger impact on the community. Student United is a great place to meet other service-driven people like yourself. It is also a great pool of resources for students who need volunteer hours or looking for other professional & college development.
