United Way of the Lakeshore is pleased to announce it has received more than $78,000 in campaign pledges from the residents of Oceana County.

The 2009 campaign so far has raised $78,540, or 87% of the $90,000 goal.

On the evening of Jan. 12, a major 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti. It is the most powerful quake to hit the impoverished country in more than 200 years.
