ACA Open Enrollment begins November 1, 2023 and runs through January 15, 2024, for healthcare coverage for calendar year, 2024. Starting November 1, you can log into HealthCare.gov, fill out an application, and enroll in a 2024 Marketplace health plan.
Here are 4 things to know about Open Enrollment and guidance that you can provide your clients who may inquire about open enrollment:
Open Enrollment Period: November 1, 2023 - January 15, 2024 (some states may extend their deadlines, beyond January 15). For individuals who enroll by December 15, coverage will begin on January 1 and for individuals who enroll by January 15, coverage will begin on February 1
Always start with HealthCare.gov. If your state uses their own website, HealthCare.gov will guide you there. HealthCare.gov or your state-based marketplace can only sell ACA plans, so you can rest easy knowing you’re getting a comprehensive plan that will be there for you when you need it.
Enroll online, over the phone, or in-person. Log on to the official ACA marketplace at HealthCare.gov, or CuidadodeSalud.gov, call the marketplace call center at 1-800-318-2596, or make an appointment for virtual or in-person assistance through the Get Covered Connector. Use this checklist to gather documents you'll need.
Pay your Premium. When you have Marketplace insurance, you'll pay your premiums directly to the insurance company — not to the Health Insurance Marketplace. Your coverage won't start until you pay your first premium. Click here for more information on completing your enrollment.
Plans and prices for 2024 will be available to preview shortly before November 1.
