Congrats to Nichols!
The Spirit of the Lakeshore Award is given to the organization that embodies the “spirit” of who United Way is and why we do what we do. It is awarded to an organization that sets an example for others by helping United Way of the Lakeshore continue its strong growth. Nichols is the honored recipient of this award for their phenomenal investment in improving the education of children in our community. Over the past 3 years, Nichols has been a key partner in launching and the continuation of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides children birth to 5 years of age a free book each month. They have provided a matching grant each of the first two years, this year they increased the grant match by $10,000 for a total of $35,000 investment in our children. They demonstrated true leadership in executing their workplace campaign by hosting a “spirit week” to increase employee engagement. They are true innovators in social entrepreneur leadership by continuously improving educational opportunities for the children of our community including their investment in the Muskegon Promise, THRIVE, and music education to name just a few. Nichols makes incredible investments in the community, the arts, and economic development to improve the quality of life that we all enjoy.
